What is Geese Management?
Geese Management is a contracted service that provides a licensed handler and professionally trained Border Collies to visit your site at random times throughout the year, to control the geese problem on your property.
How?
- The Border Collies utilize their persistent inbred herding and stalking ability to convince the geese that predators are present and the area is unsafe for them.
- The handler and Border Collies visit at random times during the week to convince the geese of constant danger.
- The geese leave moving on to areas which seem safe; this eliminates the problem on your property.
Why Border Collies?
- Border Collies have inbred instincts to herd, not retrieve. Using other retrieving dogs is far more likely to lead to problems.
- Border Collies have inbred instincts to stalk. This is important because the geese perceive the Border Collie as more of a threat than just a dog running after them. The more of a threat they sense, the longer they stay away, hence making Border Collies most effective.
- All of our Border Collies are professional trained as working dogs. They all went through extensive training working with sheep, cattle, ducks and of course geese.
